Hindus, Muslims take out Tiranga Yatra in riot-hit Jahangirpuri
The police, in heavy numbers, could be seen guarding and providing security to the procession of 100 people that had 50 members each from both the communities. The people holding the tricolour walked past several streets of the Jahangirpuri area which witnessed riots just a week back on April 16. The residents showered flower petals on the procession from the balconies of their houses.
Ashish Mishra surrenders in compliance with SC order
This comes just a week after the Supreme Court cancelled his bail and further granted him a week to surrender. Ashish surrendered in the court a day ahead of the expiry of his bail term. He was granted bail by the Allahabad High Court in February 2022. This pertains to the violence that broke out in Lakhimpur Kheri in October 2021, where eight people including four farmers were killed.
Ashram underpass opens for regular traffic
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia dedicated the underpass to the public in an event at Ashram Chowk on Sunday morning. Addressing the event, he said that this underpass will save around 1,550 litres of fuel on daily basis which used to be wasted due to heavy traffic.

Ghulam Rasool: A burglar who supplied pistol to Jahangirpuri shooter
Imam was arrested on April 18, and two days after his arrest, the alleged arms supplier -- Ghulam Rasool a.k.a. Gilli -- was nabbed by the police. Born in Jahangirpuri in 1995, Ghulam Rasool is illiterate. He was working as a fish shopkeeper before falling into bad company and the world of crime. He has been twice arrested for thievery -- first time in 2017 and second time in 2020.
'Ragman to rioter': Jahangirpuri accused Salim Chikna has a criminal past
According to a police dossier obtained by IANS, Sheikh Salim alias Salim Chikna, 36, who was born in Jahangirpuri area, could not finish his studies due to financial crunch. After growing up, he started working as a ragman but later fell into bad company and started committing crimes to make easy money.
Jahangirpuri violence accused Sheikh Hasan arrested 7 times previously
According to a dossier, exclusively obtained by IANS, Hasan is an illiterate who initially worked as a labourer. However, he fell into a bad company and started committing crime to earn more money. His first crime was to snatch a mobile phone in March 2011 for which he was arrested from the spot of the crime. Before the communal violence, accused Hasan was last time arrested in August 2021 under section 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act.
Aligarh abattoir shut after NGT order
The principal bench of NGT chairperson Adarsh Kumar Goel was dealing a plea against the abattoir HMA Agro Industries Limited, operating in Aligarh's Kol Tehsil, in spite of a closure order under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 by the State PCB on July 7, 2020. Earlier in November last year, the Tribunal had sought an action taken report from the pollution control board in the matter.
