Jahangirpuri violence: Ansar had called meeting to stop procession, say sources

Seven days before the April 16 Hanuman Jayanti procession, a meeting was organised by Ansar to carry out the attack, sources said on Friday. The sources privy to the investigation said Ansar held the meeting at Kushal Chowk in Jahangirpuri with 30 people in which it was planned as to how they would stop the procession. "Red colour stones were assembled by the accused at the roof top of several houses. It was all pre-planned. The accused later washed the whole roof. It was done in a bid to destroy the evidence," said the source.

Delhi's daily Covid tally dips to 965, positivity at 4.71%

The Covid positivity rate was at 4.71 per cent, as against 5.7 per cent the previous day. The number of active cases in the city has risen to to 2,970, of which 1,948 are being treated in home isolation. Ukraine, Russia conduct sixth prisoner exchange

Ten Ukrainian soldiers, including two officers, and nine civilians held by the Russian military were released as a result of the exchange, Vereshchuk said on Telegram. There are wounded among those released and they now can obtain treatment and rehabilitation, Vereshchuk was quoted as saying by Xinhua news agency.
Ukraine's Parliament votes to extend martial law until May 25

The presidential proposal on the prolongation of the martial law was supported by 300 lawmakers in the 450-seat assembly, Xinhua news agency reported, citing Zheleznyak's statement on Telegram. Ukraine imposed martial law on February 24 in the wake of the conflict with Russia. On March 15, the Ukrainian Parliament voted to extend the special regime till April 25.
Precautionary dose to be available free at all govt CVCs in Delhi

"In order to give the benefits of precaution doses to all eligible beneficiaries in Delhi, the same will be available for 18 to 59 years of age group, free of cost in all Government CVCs from April 21," the Directorate of Family Welfare said. However, the provision of paid precaution dose in private CVCs will also continue to be available, it added further.
Cops are probing who called Ansar near the mosque

The officials are trying to establish the identity of the man who called Ansar near the mosque just before the violence began. The police believe that Ansar was being controlled by someone who was working for a gang.
