‘You are a woman, go home’: Afghan anchor barred from entering TV station by Taliban (Watch Video)

Darwan tried entering her office during her usual shift hours and was also carrying her ID badge. However, she was denied entry into the office by Talibani security members. Later, a video of Darwan surfaced on Twitter where she mentioned her struggle with going back to work.

Afghan female anchor Shabnam Dawran on Wednesday said that she was denied entry into her television office RTA Pashto citing regime change as the reason.

Dawran tried entering her office during her usual shift hours and was also carrying her ID badge. However, she was denied entry into the office by Talibani security members.

Later, a video of Dawran surfaced on Twitter where she mentioned her struggle with going back to work. "I went to RTA but they told me that the regime has changed. “You are not allowed, go home," she said in the video.

Her video revealed the atrocious nature of the Taliban regarding women's safety and freedom. Their promises of letting women enjoy more freedom, including the freedom to step outside to go to the market without a male escort, study, go to work, or reveal their ankles are now coming out as straight-up lies.

Women around Kabul have been staging protests outside the presidential palace since Wednesday, demanding their security and protection of rights.

The concerns for women and their security have exponentially increased ever since Ashraf Ghani left Afghanistan and the Taliban took control.

This video has also reminded the world about the Taliban’s rule in the country before 2001.
