In response to Singh's remarks, Pakistan has criticized the provocative nature of his statement, reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty. The Pakistani Foreign Office emphasized its history of defending itself while cautioning against misinterpretation of its desire for peace as a sign of weakness. Pakistan also condemned India's use of hostile rhetoric for political gain, stressing the importance of constructive engagement over inflammatory language.

The strained relationship between India and Pakistan further deteriorated following India's decision to revoke the special status of Jammu and Kashmir in 2019. This move prompted strong reactions from Pakistan, leading to diplomatic downgrades and expulsions. Despite repeated assertions by India that Jammu and Kashmir remains an integral part of the country, tensions persist.
