The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Wednesday that they possess compelling evidence indicating that Al-Shifa Hospital is being utilized by Hamas as a military facility. The IDF official, without disclosing specific details at this time, affirmed the intention to share the evidence soon.
Within the Al-Shifa Hospital complex, the IDF claims to have identified weapons and other elements constituting "terror infrastructure." The military operation initiated on Tuesday targets a specific area within the extensive complex, encompassing multiple buildings and subterranean facilities.
Notably, the IDF emphasized that the ongoing military activities have been carefully executed to avoid any conflict with patients, medical staff, and civilians seeking treatment. They clarified that these individuals are located in a distinct section of the hospital.
In response, the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry reported that 37 infant patients are at risk due to a power shortage at Al-Shifa Hospital. The IDF official maintained that the option to transfer these infants to alternative facilities is open, with the Gaza Hamas-run Health Ministry having the authority to choose the new location.
Israel has offered assistance by providing transportable incubators suitable for ambulance transfer. This measure aims to relocate the infants to an alternative facility outside of the heavily affected northern Gaza, where the conflict is concentrated.
