Russia’s invasion of Ukraine similar to 'Mughals' massacre of Rajputs’: Ukrainian Envoy to India

Ukrainian ambassador to India Igor Polikha on Tuesday linked the Russian invasion of Ukraine to the Mughal invasion of India and their massacre of the Rajputs.

Ambassador Polikha on Sunday requested the Indian Foreign Secretary Igor Polikha for humanitarian assistance on Sunday which was granted the next day.

The humanitarian aid was dispatched to Romania on Indian Air Force military aircraft on Wednesday morning.

“We discussed the modalities of Humanitarian aid. We are grateful to India for starting this aid…. I was assured by Foreign Secy that Ukraine will get maximum humanitarian aid,” Polikha further said.

Ambassador Polikha also expressed anguish over the death of an Indian national who was caught in shelling in easter Ukrainian city of Kharkiv.

Indian foreign secretary (FS) Harsh Shringla on Tuesday announced that there are no Indian nationals left in Kiev, capital of Ukraine.

FS Shringla also mentioned that he has asked the Russian and the Ukrainian envoys to permit a safe passage for the Indian nationals to escape the warzone, especially in Kharkiv in eastern Ukraine.

The flight is part of a series of undertakings by the Indian government under “Operation Ganga” to fly home Indian nationals leaving war-stricken Ukraine. The massive cargo aircraft left for Romania from the Hindan Air Force station near Delhi.

The Indian Air Force stepped into the operations at the orders of PM Modi on Tuesday. The aircraft will also be supplying massive humanitarian aid for fleeing Ukrainian citizens such as fuel, food, medical aid, blankets and other necessary items.

Prime Minister Modi had on Monday held a high-level meeting in which it was decided that four ministers of his cabinet will travel to five eastern European countries to coordinate evacuation under “Operation Ganga”.
