Russia on Wednesday rejected US President Donald Trump's accusations that Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un were "conspiring" against the United States with China's Xi Jinping at Beijing's grandiose military parade.
The Kremlin said that Putin had nothing to do with any conspiracy and opined that Trump may have made the remark "ironically."
Trump previously said he was "very disappointed" with Putin and blamed the three leaders for hatching conspiracy against Washington.
On Truth Social, Trump posted about the sacrifices made by Americans to bring about the freedom of China during World War II. “The big question to be answered is whether or not President Xi of China will mention the massive amount of support and ‘blood’ that The United States of America gave to China in order to help it to secure its FREEDOM from a very unfriendly foreign invader. Many Americans died in China’s quest for Victory and Glory,” he wrote.
He went on to add, “I hope that they are rightfully Honored and Remembered for their Bravery and Sacrifice! May President Xi and the wonderful people of China have a great and lasting day of celebration,” Cutting fiercely short, Trump finished up, "Please extend my best wishes to Vladimir Putin, and Kim Jong Un, as you plot against The United States of America."
Asked by Russian state television about Trump’s remarks, Kremlin foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov dismissed the allegation. "I would like to say that no one has been conspiring, no one has been plotting anything, no conspiracies," Ushakov said. He added, "Trump may have been being ironic.""No one even had such a thought — none of these three leaders had such a thought," he continued.
"I can say that everyone understands the role played by the United States, the current administration of President Trump and President Trump personally in the current international situation," Ushakov added.
The remarks came while Xi Jinping was speaking to a group of over 50,000 as part of the parade in Beijing, announcing that the world is presented with a choice between "peace or war," with Putin and Kim by his side in an unprecedented display of military might.
