His comments followed closely on the heels of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issuing a detailed list of agreements and initiatives that flowed from the bilateral talks in Tokyo on August 29–30.

The visit yielded a complete set of results within the purview of the Special Strategic and Global Partnership, as per the official statement of MEA.

One of the most significant developments was the endorsement of the India-Japan Joint Vision for the Next Decade, which establishes a 10-year plan to deepen cooperation in eight priority sectors like technology, economic partnership, mobility, sustainability, health, and state and local-level cooperation.

Security relations were also taken forward through a Joint Declaration on Security Cooperation, aimed at deepening Defence engagement and responding to emerging global and regional security concerns.

The visit also introduced an Action Plan for Human Resource Exchange, which aims to facilitate the flow of 500,000 people, including 50,000 professional Indian workers, to Japan in the next five years.

Both sides also agreed on a number of path-breaking agreements, like the Memorandum of Cooperation on the Joint Crediting Mechanism to assist India's climate goals, and the India-Japan Digital Partnership 2.0, which will concentrate in areas such as AI, semiconductors, IoT, and digital public infrastructure.

Japan has also committed a private investment goal of JPY 10 trillion in India for the coming decade. For the purpose of strengthening cooperation on the regional front, the two countries mutually agreed to encourage collaboration between Indian states and Japanese prefectures, schedule mutual high-level visits, and establish regional business forums, especially in the Kansai and Kyushu regions.

The MEA highlighted that these results represent a significant advance in the India-Japan relationship, bringing the two nations together on common objectives of technology development, sustainable growth, economic expansion, and security collaboration.
