"We've adopted zero tolerance towards militancy to uphold the peaceful glory of holy Islam by keeping the country free from militancy," she said while virtually addressing the national level Haj and Umrah Management Conference-2022 and opening ceremony of Hajj and Umrah fair, organised by Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB) at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre here.
Blocked Russian fertiliser to be shipped out to avoid global food insecurity: United Nations

Nearly 11.2 million tons of essential foodstuffs have been shipped from three Ukrainian ports since the Black Sea Grain Initiative was signed on July 22 by Turkey, Ukraine, Russia and the United Nations. The agreement is aimed at ensuring food supplies to global markets amid the Russia-Ukraine armed conflict. However, 300,000 tons of Russian fertiliser remain stranded in various European ports, according to United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Secretary-General Rebeca Grynspan.

North Korea fires intercontinental ballistic missile

The Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said it detected the launch from the Sunan area in Pyongyang at 10.15 a.m., and that the missile flew around 1,000 km at an apogee of some 6,100 km at a top speed of Mach 22, reports Yonhap News Agency. The launch is presumed to have involved the Hwasong-17 ICBM, according to a South Korean defence source.
Australia reports 38% spike in new Covid cases

According to the data published by the Department of Health, an average of 10,799 new infections were reported nationally every day in the week to Friday, reports Xinhua news agency. It represented an increase of 38.2 per cent from the previous week (7,809 per day on average) and a 103 per cent increase from 5,300 cases per day in the first week of November.
UK reaffirms support for India as permanent member in UNSC

It has called for an expansion of the UNSC in both permanent as well as non-permanent categories and has also supported permanent seats for Germany, Japan as well as Brazil. This was stated by the UK Ambassador to the UN, Barbara Woodward. She said that UK's position is well known as her country has long called for the expansion of UNSC in both the categories.
