Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas assured U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken that the Palestinian Authority is prepared to assume full responsibility for Gaza should a political situation necessitate it.
During their meeting in Ramallah on Sunday, Abbas emphasized to Blinken that the Palestinian Authority exclusively represents the Palestinian people and not the interests of Hamas.
Abbas also underlined that a comprehensive political solution must encompass the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza. He emphasized that lasting peace can only be achieved when Israel discontinues its military governance over the State of Palestine.
Following the Israel Defense Forces' ground invasion of Gaza on October 27, there has been a flurry of diplomatic discussions involving the United States, Qatar, Jordan, and Egypt in an attempt to address the situation.
