At the same time, Israel's Economy Minister, Nir Barkat, underscored India-Israel's robust economic relationship at an event in early February. Speaking at the India-Israel Business Forum in New Delhi, he pointed out how both governments are making joint efforts to encourage prospering business relationships.
The robust diplomatic connection between Netanyahu and PM Modi was appreciated by Barkat, commenting on Indians and Israelis' love for each other, especially when they travel. He emphasized, "Israel has 10,000 startups, the most entrepreneurial nation in the world in terms of ratio. We are world leaders in high-tech fields like agro-tech, food-tech, aqua-tech, desert-tech, and climate change mitigation solutions. We also have a strong niche in defense, homeland security, and advanced industries.". These business clusters complement India's interest, and some Israeli companies are working together with hundreds of Indian businesses in these sectors.
Sharing his expectations of increased cooperation, Barkat briefed about his meeting with Indian Minister Piyush Goyal. "Another Indian delegation is expected to come to Israel, where several business meetings will be conducted. The objective is to assist Indian and Israeli companies in developing greater business collaborations," he clarified.
In addition, Barkat reaffirmed Israel's determination to increasing India's economic growth, saying, "We are keenly searching for opportunities to invest in infrastructure and promote firms engaged in the 'Make in India' program. Our aim is to join the vision of Prime Minister Modi and Minister Goyal for India's development, with Israeli companies taking their rightful place in this quest."
