Iran Claims Hamas Leader Was Killed by Short-Range Missile

According to the third statement released by the IRGC on the death of Haniyeh on Saturday, the attack has been carried out with the launching of some sort of short-range projectile from outside the residence of guests. This projectile had almost a 7 kg heavy warhead that caused an intense explosion. The incident has been attributed to an Israeli assault in Tehran. According to an Iranian source belonging to the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, the weapon that killed Hamas Politburo Chief Ismail Haniyeh was a "short-range projectile loaded with an almost 7-kg warhead.".

It also said that the "terrorist" operation was carried out by Israel with the support of the US government, Xinhua news agency reported.

IRGC said that "the revenge for Haniyeh's blood will be definite," and added that "adventurist and terrorist" Israel would get "the decisive response to this crime, which is a harsh punishment, at the appropriate time and place and with the appropriate quality.

Haniyeh was killed along with his bodyguard early Wednesday when their residence in Tehran was struck, following an invitation to the swearing-in ceremony of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian scheduled for Tuesday.
