The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have reportedly arrested Mohammed Abu Selemya, the director of Gaza's Al-Shifa Hospital, along with several other staff members.
Al-Shifa Hospital has been a significant focus during the Israeli military's ground offensive in Gaza, with the IDF alleging that Hamas operates a command center beneath the hospital and uses it as a base, including tunnel entry points.
Hamas and the Palestinian Health Ministry have consistently denied these allegations. The IDF has claimed that hostages captured by Hamas on October 7 were held in tunnels beneath the hospital.
Recent events, including the discovery of the body of Israeli soldier Noa Marciano near Al-Shifa Hospital, have heightened tensions.
A four-day humanitarian pause in fighting was agreed upon by Hamas and Israel, with the expectation that it would start on Thursday. However, the pause has been delayed, and an Israeli government source anticipates it will begin on Friday.
As part of the pause, Hamas is set to release 50 hostages from Gaza, while Israel will free 150 Palestinian detainees in the initial phase. The situation remains complex and tense, with ongoing developments in the region.
