Gaza Health Ministry Reports Palestinian Death Toll Reaching 15,899

Al-Qedra accused Israel of intensifying its attacks on hospitals and health facilities, highlighting the destruction of 56 health institutions, the arrest of 35 medical personnel, and the complete paralysis of the health system in the Gaza Strip.

The death toll in the Gaza Strip has surged to 15,899 following the Israeli assault since October 7, according to the Hamas-run Health Ministry. In a press conference held in Khan Yunis on Monday, Ashraf al-Qedra, the ministry's spokesperson, disclosed that the number of injuries has surpassed 42,000, with 70 percent of the victims being women and children.

Al-Qedra accused Israel of intensifying its attacks on hospitals and health facilities, highlighting the destruction of 56 health institutions, the arrest of 35 medical personnel, and the complete paralysis of the health system in the Gaza Strip. The spokesperson urged the United Nations and the World Health Organization to safeguard hospitals, health teams, and humanitarian efforts, emphasizing the need for safe passage to allow the entry of medical supplies and fuel, as well as the evacuation of the wounded.

In response, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) asserted that Hamas deliberately positioned itself among civilians, placing the burden of consequences on Gazans. The IDF stated on its official account Monday evening, "Our war is against Hamas, not the people of Gaza. We are taking extensive measures to mitigate harm to the civilians that Hamas uses as shields."

The conflict, sparked by an unprecedented attack on Israeli towns by Hamas, has led to a large-scale war initiated by Israel since October 7.
