During a recent election rally in Pennsylvania, former President Donald Trump declared that he is "much better looking" than his Democratic opponent in the presidential race, Vice-President Kamala Harris.
"I am much better looking than her. I think I'm a better-looking person than Kamala," Trump said during the rally, which was held in a key battleground state central to the upcoming election.
The comments by Trump came shortly after a column in The Wall Street Journal called Harris attractive. Columnist Peggy Noonan penned the piece, writing that Harris was "radiant," citing, "You can't take a bad picture of her. Her beauty, plus the social warmth that all who have known her over the years speak of, combines to produce: radiance."
Trump seized the opportunity to address his audience, among whom was the Republican Senate candidate David McCormick. "You're not allowed to say this anymore. You know, David, don't ever get caught in this trap," Trump told McCormick. "David, please, never call a woman beautiful, because that will be the end of your political career."
"I am much better looking than her. I'm a better-looking person than Kamala," Trump said as he reiterated his claim, adding that a Time magazine cover sketch of Harris pales in comparison to actresses Sophia Loren or Elizabeth Taylor.
Further, Trump dismissed an economic plan that Harris unveiled on Friday and referred to it as the "Maduro plan" — alluding to Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro — saying that her policies would lead to "communism in the US.".
But in recent weeks, Trump has gone further, issuing a spate of personal attacks against Harris, calling her "crazy" and a "lunatic," questioning her ethnicity, and claiming he has a right to these attacks because she has "provoked" him and called him "weird.".
