China has claimed itself to be a democracy ahead of President Joe Biden's summit for democracy that is scheduled to be held this week. The position paper released on Sunday by China's State Council also argued that there is no fixed model of democracy and it manifests itself in many forms. Chinese top government had titled the papers “China: Democracy That Works.” Their counterattack drives deeper as Beijing criticizes democracy in the United States and calls it flawed.

Key Points :

1. The Communist Party of China which has made an improbable claim of being a democracy has been ruling the country with no tolerance for opposition parties and President Xi Jinping rose to power without popular elections. Moreover, it was noted that the Chinese public demanding democracy in China was also punished harshly and China still continues to be at the bottom of the list which ranks political and personal freedoms.

2. Chinese officials praised what they called a Chinese-style democracy in speeches, articles, and videos on state television.

5. The Summit for Democracy intends to focus on matters that impact or lead to the disintegration of democracy. The leaders also aim to discuss how to protect the freedom and rights of citizens in their home countries and abroad. Many of the uninvited Middle Eastern countries are also key allies of the US which gives rise to many questions directed towards the administration's choice of nations.
