J.D. Vance was chosen as Donald Trump's running mate on July 15, the opening day of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Following President Joe Biden's withdrawal from the race on July 21, he endorsed Vice-President Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential nominee. Harris quickly gained party support and secured enough delegates to become the Democratic nominee through a five-day online voting process in early August.

On August 6, Harris announced Walz as her running mate. That same day, they began a five-day campaign tour through crucial swing states, including Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona, and Nevada.

Last week, ABC disclosed that Trump and Harris had agreed to a presidential debate hosted by the network on September 10, marking their first debate appearance together before the November election.
