Putin Praises India’s Achievements and Strategic Partnership in Independence Day Message to Leaders

"Within 77 years of self-dependent development, your country has gained wide recognition for its impressive successes in the social, economic, scientific, and technical spheres and many other fields of activities, gained enormous prestige in the international arena," Putin wrote in a message to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of India's Independence Day.

Russian President Vladimir Putin hailed India's "widely-recognised track record of success", underlining the importance that Moscow attached to the privileged strategic partnership between the two nations. In his congratulatory message to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of India's Independence Day, Putin drew attention to the considerable achievements India had made in the social, economic, scientific, and technical fields during the past 77 years. He underlined the elevated status acquired by the country at the international scene and expressed Russia's commitment to continuing cooperation on an ascending scale.

"We attach great importance to the relations of a privileged strategic partnership with India, and I am certain that our consistent efforts to fulfill the agreements resulting from our recent talks in Moscow will contribute to further expanding the multifaceted cooperation between Russia and India. This will, without doubt, be in conformity with serving the interests of our friendly nations while giving strength to international stability and security," he added.

Putin was sure that the multilateral cooperation between Russia and India would gain additional impetus from the realization of the accords reached during the recent talks in Moscow. As he claimed, this would promote the interests of both countries and contribute to global stability and security. On its part, the Russian Foreign Ministry underlined the continuity of cooperation between the two nations and expressed the opinion that India has a "well-deserved authority" in the international arena, having taken an important and constructive role in international affairs.

"India enjoys well-deserved authority in the world arena, playing a major constructive role in international affairs. Today, our relations can be defined as a special and privileged strategic partnership. We maintain an intensive political dialogue and take efforts to strengthen cooperation within multilateral formats and improve trade, economic, investment, scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian cooperation," the Russian Foreign Ministry stated while issuing its I-Day greetings to New Delhi.

It praised the diplomatic relations between Russia and India, saying they were based upon equality, mutual respect, and confidence. The Ministry underlined the social progress attained by India in the years since it had gained independence—economic, scientific, technical, and social—together with the preservation of a unique cultural tradition.

It also underlined the long years of the Indian people's heroic struggle against British colonial rule and the enormous USSR contribution to industrialization and development in India. The current ties, it reiterated, are marked by a special and privileged strategic partnership between the two countries with an active political dialogue and cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, science, technologies, culture, and humanitarian sphere.

"Today, our relations can be defined as a special and privileged strategic partnership. We maintain an intensive political dialogue, and take efforts to strengthen cooperation within multilateral formats and improve trade, economic, investment, scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian cooperation," it said.
