PSV Eindhoven clinched their first Dutch league championship in six years and the 25th in their illustrious history by triumphing over Sparta Rotterdam with a 4-2 victory on Sunday.

Under the guidance of Peter Bosz, the squad, which boasts talents like U.S. players Sergio Dest, Malik Tillman, and Ricardo Pepi, asserted dominance throughout the Eredivisie season. With just one defeat, they netted an impressive 107 goals while conceding only 19, all with two matches left to play.

The season kicked off with a remarkable streak of 17 consecutive wins, a feat previously matched only by PSV themselves back in 1988.

This triumph marks Bosz's first major league title as a coach, following his past achievements such as leading Ajax to the Europa League final in 2017, where they fell short against Manchester United.

Although needing just a point against Sparta to secure the title, PSV went all out and claimed the victory.

The early scare came when Sparta's midfielder Metinho found the net in the 8th minute, but an own goal from Said Bakari soon equalized before Johan Bakayoko's strike put PSV in the lead by the 26th minute. Another own goal, this time by PSV's defender Olivier Boscagli, leveled the score again before halftime.

Boscagli redeemed himself with a well-taken volley from a Veerman free kick, putting PSV ahead 3-2 and igniting celebrations both in the stadium and in the bustling marketplace of central Eindhoven, where fans watched the match on big screens.

Jordan Teze sealed the deal for PSV with a goal in the 78th minute, solidifying their championship status.

In the build-up to the title, PSV showcased their dominance, scoring 19 goals while conceding just one in their previous three Eredivisie matches. They also kicked off the season by lifting the Johan Cruyff Plate, defeating last year's champions Feyenoord 1-0 in Rotterdam.

PSV's captain and striker Luuk de Jong, who shared the league's top scorer title with AZ Alkmaar's Vangelis Pavlidis before the match, was substituted in the 77th minute due to a minor knee injury, with Pepi taking his place.

Dest, currently on loan from Barcelona, is in the recovery phase from a severe knee injury and is unlikely to feature for the remainder of the year.
