DU: PhD holders preferred over NET pass outs for Asst Prof post

In fact, the Parliamentary Committee on Education is of the opinion that the NET should be modified to meet the new norms. The present assessment system is ineffective and has failed to bring the aspiring youths to the teaching profession, it opined. Post the Parliamentary Committee's report, the Delhi University has communicated to the pricipals of its affiliated colleges seeking ad hoc professors' PhD status report.
Ph.D. not mandatory to become Assistant Professor till July 2023: UGC

UGC had initially stipulated in 2018 that Ph.D. will be mandatory from July 2021 but keeping in mind the covid 19 implications and plea from candidates across the country, it has been postponed till July 2023. The plea was made requesting UGC to reconsider as several candidates were facing challenges in completing their degrees to the complications brought by the pandemic.
UGC allows varsities to teach online, distance learning post Covid

The UGC has decided to start 123 different online courses. Out of this, 40 programmes for postgraduate (PG) students and 83 for undergraduate (UG) students have been decided. Students from across the country can go for these courses. They will have to apply through the online course platform 'Swayam' or "Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds".
No CUCET for UG admissions from 2021-22 session: UGC

Earlier, the education ministry had announced that a common entrance test will be held for admitting students to the universities. In a tweet, the UGC said that admission process in central universities during academic session 2021-22 may continue as per past practice in view of prevailing COVID-19 pandemic. "Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) may be implemented from academic session 2022-23,” it added.
DU Admissions 2021-22: Cut-offs based on merit to decide admissions to UG courses

The entire admission process, from registration to the payment,  will be completed through online mode only. Although every year admissions were done through 'cut-offs' but this year, Delhi University was planning to implement the Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET), which now has been ruled out. 
UGC issues academic calendar, exam guidelines for new session 2021-22; first-year classes to begin by Oct 1

The UGC has asked all the universities and colleges to complete the undergraduate and postgraduate admissions processes by September 30.  According to the new guidelines, the documents for the new admissions can be submitted by December 31, 2021.
