The University Grants Commission (UGC) on Sunday announced that the Central Universities Common entrance test (CUCET) will not be implemented for undergraduate (UG) admissions from 2021-22 session in view of the situation arising out of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic
Earlier, the education ministry had announced that a common entrance test will be held for admitting students to the universities.
In a tweet, the UGC said that admission process in central universities during academic session 2021-22 may continue as per past practice in view of prevailing COVID-19 pandemic.
"Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) may be implemented from academic session 2022-23,” it added.

A seven-member committee of UGC had recommended an aptitude test namely Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET), wherein its scores will be used to offer admissions to the colleges. The Union Education Ministry had also constituted a committee to look into modalities for the CUCET for admissions to all undergraduate courses at central universities as suggested under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
