According to the NTA, they have been receiving a few representations from the applicants for fixing the last date to calculate the age limit to apply for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). The Official notice says that “The National Eligibility Test (NET) Bureau of University Grants Commission (UGC) (vide Letter No.4- 1/2019 (NET/NTA) dated 02 January 2023) has requested the NTA to fix the upper age limit for applying for JRF as 01.12.2022 instead of 01.02.2023”.

4-yr UG programme to make it easier for students eyeing foreign univs

The craze among Indian students to study abroad was increasing every year. According to a government figure presented in the Lok Sabha last week, six lakh Indian students went abroad for higher education till November, this year, while in 2021, the number was 4.44 lakh. The data states that Canada, Germany, Australia, the US and Italy are the top five countries where Indian students go for further studies.
UGC prepares ground for Bachelor's exams in 12 Indian languages

Students will be able to graduate in their mother tongue. In view of the same, preparations have begun to make the course books available in languages like Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Tamil and Telugu among others. The University Grants Commission (UGC), under an initiative by the Union Ministry of Education, is engaging with publishers to translate English textbooks to various Indian languages.

The CSIR NET 2021 exam was conducted in the Computer Based Test(CBT) mode, from 16 to 18 September 2022, in two shifts i.e. morning and evening. The exams were held at 306 centres across 166 cities. The answer key of the exam was released on October 1, later the students were given a chance to raise objections.

Eligible candidates can check their answer key at the official website - ugcnet.nta.nic.in. It is important to note that candidates who wish to challenge the answer key can raise their objections before October 20, 5 PM. Candidates are required to pay a sum of Rs 200 per answer challenged, to be paid online by 11:50 pm on October 20. Once the candidate raises their objection and challenges a question, it will then be verified by the panel of subject experts.
Autonomy for colleges; no nominee from varsity, UGC required in committees

The UGC is expected to make it public in a few days for stakeholder's feedback. After the autonomy, there will be no, or just a few nominees of UGC and Universities in the high level committees of the colleges. Also, there will be less interference in the functioning of the college. The regulations will be finalised after receiving feedback from the stakeholders.
