Twitter bans misleading climate change ads

The micro-blogging platform said that misleading advertisements on Twitter "that contradict the scientific consensus on climate change are prohibited, in line with our inappropriate content policy". "We believe that climate denialism shouldn't be monetized on Twitter, and that misrepresentative ads shouldn't detract from important conversations about the climate crisis," the company said in a blog post late on Friday.
Twitter's edit feature may keep digital traces of earlier tweets

App researcher and reverse engineer Jane Manchun Wong said in a tweet that the edit button may have an "immutable" quality. "Looks like Twitter's approach to Edit Tweet is immutable, as in, instead of mutating the Tweet text within the same Tweet (same ID), it re-creates a new Tweet with the amended content, along with the list of the old Tweets prior of that edit," Wong posted late on Saturday.. It is still not clear how a tweet's edit history will appear to users.
Musk demands long form tweets as 280 characters not enough for him

Twitter currently allows people to post in 280 characters. Reacting to a follower's tweet thread, Musk said: "My most immediate takeaway from this novella of a thread is that Twitter is way overdue for long form tweets!" Earlier, Musk demanded an Edit button, and the micro-blogging platform announced that it is working on such feature that will allow users to correct errors in their tweets, albeit with some rules.
Elon Musk may bring wealthy partners to acquire Twitter

According to a report in The New York Post citing sources, "a new plan that includes partners could be announced within days". This could be Musk's 'Plan B' as he mentioned during a Ted Talk show this week on acquiring 100 per cent of Twitter for nearly $43 billion. Musk may join "private-equity firm Silver Lake Partners, which was planning to co-invest with him in 2018 when he was considering taking Tesla private", the report said late on Friday.

In a meeting with employees late on Thursday, Agrawal said the board is still evaluating Musk's offer and will make a decision "in the best interest of our shareholders", reports The Verge. "At least one employee asked about the possibility of future layoffs, which Agrawal said wouldn't be dictated by individual performance ratings," the report mentioned.

The micro-blogging platform's shares soared nearly 18 per cent in pre-market trading after the news broke. Musk is offering to "acquire all of the outstanding Common Stock of the Issuer not owned by the Reporting Person for all cash consideration valuing the Common Stock at $54.20 per share," read the filing. Musk says Twitter needs to go private to go through the changes that need to be made.
Twitter acquires OpenBack to make push notifications better

In a tweet thread, Jay Sullivan who is Twitter's head of consumer product said that OpenBack offers "device-side control of push notifications". "The best push notifications bring people to the conversations they care about on Twitter. But irrelevant notifications are a distraction. With millions of people visiting Twitter via notifications every day, we want them to be timely, relevant and engaging," he said late on Tuesday.
Twitter investor sues Elon Musk for hiding his stake

The lawsuit has been filed in Manhattan federal court by Marc Bain Rasella on behalf of "all investors who sold or otherwise disposed of Twitter, Inc. securities between March 24, 2022 and April 1, 2022, inclusive," reports TechCrunch. According to the lawsuit, Musk began acquiring Twitter shares in January and by March 14, had acquired over 5 per cent ownership in Twitter.
