Mahua Moitra Scheduled to Face Ethics Panel on November 2, Requests Cross-Examination of Dehadrai and Hiranandani

Moitra raised concerns about the committee's decision not to shift the hearing dates and noted the committee's different approach in the case of BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri, who has a pending complaint of hate speech.

Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra is set to appear before the Ethics Committee in connection with the alleged "cash for Parliament questions" on Thursday. In a letter to the committee chairman, Moitra requested the opportunity to cross-examine complainant Jai Anant Dehadrai and businessman Darshan Hiranandani, who is alleged to be the "bribe-giver." She argued that without cross-examination, the inquiry would be incomplete and unfair.

She also questioned whether the Ethics Committee is the appropriate forum to examine allegations of alleged criminality, emphasizing that parliamentary committees do not have criminal jurisdiction.

The ethics committee is investigating allegations by BJP MP Dubey that Moitra accepted cash and favors for asking questions in Lok Sabha on businessman Gautam Adani at the behest of businessman Hiranandani. Moitra's appearance before the committee comes after Dubey and Dehadrai provided oral evidence in the case.
