The 23-year-old Aditi and the reigning women's PGA Championships winner, American Nelly Korda, shot identical scores in perfect conditions to trail Sweden's Madelene Sagstrom by a stroke. The 28-year-old Madelene, who notched her maiden LPGA Tour win at Gainbridge in Boca Raton, Florida early last year, had a superb five-under 66.

Sydney finished the race in 51.46 seconds, 0.44 seconds faster than the previous world record set by her on June 27. Sydney's compatriot Dalilah Muhammad won the silver with personal best of 51.58s, also bettering the previous world record of 51.90s. Femke Bol of the Netherlands took bronze in 52.03s. In the 800m men's final, Emmanuel Korir and Ferguson Rotich completed a Kenya 1-2.

On the opening day of the wrestling competition, Ravi Dahiya defeated Bulgaria's Georgi Vangelov 14-4 on technical superiority to reach the last-four in the men's 57kg category, while compatriot Deepak Punia overcame China's Zushen Lin 6-3 on points to advance to the semifinals. Dahiya will take on Nurislam Sanayev of Kazakhstan in the last-four, while Punia will be up against David Morris Taylor of the USA.
