Malik and a Babbar Khalsa associate, Ajaib Singh Bagri, were acquitted by a British Columbia Supreme Court judge of murder and conspiracy charges in the terrorist bomb attack that brought down Air India's Kanishka, a Boeing 747 aircraft, over the Atlantic Ocean near Ireland in 1985.

Now, in 2022, the Taliban have dug up the vehicle of their founder in Zabul province, where it was buried 21 years ago, Express Tribune reported. The Toyota vehicle was buried by Mullah Omar when he arrived at Zabul province in southern Afghanistan from Kandahar. The car was found wrapped in plastic and mostly undamaged. The front mirror was, however, broken, a local said.

As per details, the blast occurred outside the Karachi university campus of IBA (Institute of Business Administration), in a vehicle parked outside the campus building with at least three Chinese nationals and a driver aboard. The killed Chinese nationals include Zhang Xiaoping, director of a Chinese language institute of IBA called Confucius Institute.
