Gunfight leaves 2 militants dead in eastern Indonesia
The gunfight took place in Parigi Moutong district at about 3 a.m. local time, the Xinhua news agency reported. At least two suspected terrorists were killed during a shootout on Sunday between Indonesian security forces and suspected members of the IS-affiliated terrorist group East Indonesia Mujahidin (MIT).The killed suspects were identified as Rukli and Ahmad Gazali
35 people killed in gunmen attack in Nigeria
Mohammed Shehu, the police spokesperson in Zamfara, told Xinhua on phone that the gunmen in large numbers invaded five villages in Maradun local government area on Thursday, shooting sporadically at the unsuspecting residents while destroying houses and properties. "Thirty five people were killed by the bandits," Shehu said. He said police are currently in pursuit of the gunmen.
Pak PMO, govt asked to release counter-terror expert Faran Jeffery

25 killed in fresh Myanmar clashes
On July 2, Myanmar troops encircled the Satpyarkyin village, west of the Tabayin township in Sagaing province. Civilian resistance fighters of the People's Defense Force (PDF) defended the village against nearly 200 troops supported by artillery. The resistance finally died down on Sunday when PDF fighters ran out of bullets on their hunting rifles and arrows for their bows.
Afghan airstrikes kill 33 militants
Acting on a tip-off, the fighter jets targeted Taliban the gatherings in parts of the restive districts on Wednesday afternoon, killing 33 insurgents and injuring 19 others, Xinhua news agency quoted the spokesman as saying. Taliban militants have reportedly captured more than 70 districts since the start of the withdrawal of the US-led forces from Afghanistan on May 1.

1 person dead in US city shooting
One person died and six others were injured during a shooting in Oakland, amid concerns over a growing number homicides in the US city, police said. The victim was a 22-year-old man from San Francisco who died at the hospital, Xinhua news agency quoted the police as saying on Sunday. The six others were in stable condition, the police added.
NZ holds 1st meeting on countering terrorism, violent extremism
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern on Tuesday opened the country's first meeting on countering terrorism and violent extremism, which is being held in Christchurch over the next two days. The meeting of "a country at peace" will look at "how we can all contribute to making our country more inclusive and safe", Ardern was quoted.
1 dead, 9 injured during Chicago mass shooting
The incident took place shortly after 2 a.m., on Saturday in the 7500-block of South Prairie Avenue, after two men approached a group of people standing on the sidewalk and opened fire, Xinhua news agency quoted the police as saying later in the day.
