Bilawal blames Imran's tenure for inaction of Afghan Taliban against TTP

In an interview, Bilawal said that during Khan's tenure, the government had been asking the Afghan Taliban to facilitate table talks with the TTP and come to a mutual agreement of peace, which included releasing terrorists and commanders from Pakistani jails; allowing militants to return to Pakistan from Afghanistan; and resettle in areas spread across the countries' border.
Pak Taliban claim responsibility for attack on Karachi police headquarters

The banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the attack, Dawn reported. Reports of firing on Sharea Faisal   Karachi's main thoroughfare with a number of strategic installations, including the Pakistan Air Force's Faisal Base   emerged at around 7:15 p.m. local time. Three floors of the five-storey building have been cleared so far.

The attack happened at around 7:10 p.m. local time when eight to 10 terrorists opened fire and hurled hand grenades at the Karachi police chief's office near the Saddar area of Karachi, Deputy Inspector General of south zone Karachi Irfan Baloch told media. He said four floors of the building had been cleared in the operation jointly.

Chairing the Apex Committee meeting in Peshawar, convened after the attack on a mosque in the city that killed over 100 people, Sharif said that all the stakeholders should work together against terrorism, Xinhua reported. "It is the need of the hour that provinces and the center along with the leaderships of political parties take ownership and shun their differences ... We should unite and tackle this (terrorism)," the prime minister said.
Terror returns to Peshawar

Officials confirmed that it was a suicide attack and that the bomber was standing in the front row at the time of the explosion. Peshawar Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Muhammad Ijaz Khan said the bomber detonated his load at the moment hundreds of people had lined up for prayers.

The blast occurred as Zuhr prayers were being offered and caused a portion of the building to collapse. The explosion took place at around 1:40pm local time. Some of the injured are in critical condition. The cause of the explosion is unclear and no group has claimed responsibility.  The police have closed roads leading to the Red Zone.

According to the report released by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), militants carried out 376 terror attacks last year, in which 533 people were killed and 832 others were injured, reports Xinhua news agency. The attacks during the year 2022 are also the highest number of militant attacks during the last five years, said the report.

The outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the incident. In a statement, a spokesperson for the militant group said that its members had taken CTD staff and security officials as hostage. He added that the militants -- in a previous video statement -- had demanded safe passage but "mistakenly mentioned Afghanistan", Dawn reported.
