SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Saturday announced that Kane Williamson will take over captaincy from David Warner for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Warner led SRH in the first six matches. The franchise lost five of those matches and is at the bottom of the points table.

While DC are coming into this match on the back of two successive victories, over Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings, their opponents SRH managed to get their first win of the season when they defeated Punjab Kings in their last match on Wednesday. SRH are sixth in the IPL points table.

On Friday, the franchise posted a picture of skipper David Warner dribbling the ball past Vijay Shankar and titled it "David Beckham_Warner", comparing the Australian opening batsman to the former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder. This prompted a fan to warn the Australian about a groin injury he had suffered during the series against India. "Be careful with the groin injury. Still feel he is not 100%".

This was the third successive time SRH lost a match after looking like they would race to the target after having got a good start. SRH had earlier messed up the chase against Kolkata Knight Riders in the opening encounter and then lost their next match to Royal Challengers Bangalore.

SRH lost to KKR by 10 runs in their first Indian Premier League (IPL) match of the season. KKR scored 187/6 batting first and Warner said that the was surprised by the amount of runs they managed to get considering the conditions at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.
