Follow 1991 Act or risk another Babri Masjid-type situation, says Owaisi
The MP from Hyderabad faulted the order of the lower court saying it violates The Places of Worship (Special Provisions) Act, 1991 and was passed without hearing the Muslim side. With the issue of Shahi Idgah Masjid at Mathura and disputes at other places being raised during the last few days, he believes that only strict adherence to the 1991 Act will prevent fresh controversies.

"This is a textbook repeat of December 1949 in Babri Masjid. This order itself changes the religious nature of the Masjid. This is a violation of 1991 Act. This was my apprehension and it has come true. Gyanvapi Masjid was, and will remain a Masjid till judgement day, Inshallah," Owaisi tweeted.

The Hyderabad MP reminded Soundararajan that the Governor is a titular head. "Appointing a BJP party member as your Public relations officer is a case of impropriety," he tweeted. The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President was reacting to a tweet by a journalist that the PRO of BJP in Tamil Nadu is handling public relations for Soundararajan, who is also Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.
