The development follows a report submitted by an eight-member committee on April 21. According to sources, the group will be a window for political strategist Prashant Kishor, known as PK in political circles, to work for the party till 2024 elections but there is no official word on it.

Sachin Pilot discussed issues related to the committee which was formed after his rebellion from the Congress. While sources say that Pilot was happy with the outcome of the meeting, it was not clear what assurances were made to him and his return as state President - a post he was stripped of along with his Deputy Chief Ministership - was discussed or not.

Party's senior leaders Digvijaya Singh, Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and Ajay Maken are present in the meeting. The meeting is also being attended by political strategist Prashant Kishor, sources said.

Azad, who met the party chief on March 18, had said that there was no vacancy currently for the post of President and nobody asked her to quit. Sources say that during the meet with senior leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Friday, Gandhi assured him that prominent roles will be given to the leaders and nobody will be ignored, as she will be meeting leaders of election-going states starting from Himachal Pradesh.
