Oppn parties upset over Rahul's remark on ideology

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, CPI(M), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Janata Dal (Secular) have questioned Rahul Gandhi's comment that only the Congress has the ideology "to take on the BJP". Rahul in his address at Congress' 'Chintan Shivir' in Udaipur on Sunday had claimed that regional parties cannot fight the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as they lack ideology, adding that only the Congress can fight the BJP.

Addressing a rally in Rajasthan's Banswara, Rahul Gandhi said, "There is a fight between two ideologies. On one hand, there is Congress which says that everyone has to be protected, and everyone should walk together; on the other hand there is BJP, which only works to divide and suppress," Rahul Gandhi said.
Rahul to embark on padyatra from Kashmir to Kanyakumari

The yatra was part of discussion during the 'chintan shivir' of the party. It is likely to commence later this year in run-up for the general elections, sources said. Similar padyatra will be organised in each state by the state leaders to push pro-people agenda and highlight the "failures" of the government and plight of the people.
G-23 stand in Congress' Chintan Shivir unclear

Even the G-23 leaders - many of whom have been accomodated in various committees in the run up for the 'Chintan Shivir'. Sources within the group say that they will think over the matter during the event before any comment. Meanwhile, the Congress on Thursday said that Udaipur will be new milestone of hope, aspiration and change as India is "enduring a painful and vicious assault on its democracy, economy and societal harmony".

The most vocal voices in the party for Rahul Gandhi's return are its two Chief Ministers Ashok Gehlot (Rajasthan) and Bhupesh Baghel (Chhattisgarh), apart from Randeep Surjewala, K.C. Venugopal and other Rahul loyalists. In the Chintan Shivir, Rahul Gandhi will speak as a second last speaker just ahead of party chief Sonia Gandhi, and the party hopes to get a new path of revival from there to reverse its electoral losses.

Gandhi, while addressing the party's tribal leaders in Dahod, spelt out the party strategy for the tribal leaders. "Tribals main issues are forest, land and water, from party workers to senior leaders every one will have to stand with them, fight for them, one has to reach out to them through door to door campaign, covering each village." He added that only sincere workers and fighters are guaranted a party ticket, seniority does not guarantee a ticket, no work no ticket.
CWC to meet to finalise agenda for Udaipur Chintan Shivir

Ahead of the meeting, party interim president Sonia Gandhi will meet all the convenors of the sub-groups to get a draft proposal prepared by the committees. The committees were formed to head discussions on politics, economy, farmers, social justice and youth affairs. The sub-groups have been finalising their reports to be discussed in the meeting.

Chennithala is part of the sub-committee chaired by Mukul Wasnik and according to sources, he has given his ideas which will be taken up during the Chintan Shivir and it includes a Bharat Yatra by Gandhi. Other suggestions include that the party should dedicate one month in a year to raise funds for the party, jumbo committees should be avoided at all levels.
