Oversight Board tells Meta to fix how it treats VIP users for content violation
The report revealed that Facebook operated a two-tiered content moderation system where common users were subject to the platform's defined rules while VIP users were secretly taken into a programme called "cross check." When users on Meta's cross-check lists posted such content, it was not immediately removed as it would be for most people, but was left up, pending further human review.
WhatsApp rolls out picture-in-picture mode on iOS beta
The new feature was available for some beta testers that installed the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.24.0.79 update from the TestFlight app, reports WABetaInfo. It allows users to use other applications while placing a video call on WhatsApp. When you multitask with other applications, a picture-in-picture view will appear instantly if the capability is enabled for your account.
Meta to let players make their own levels in VR game
Sandbox mode will launch on December 14 within the VR battle royale game. From its Meta Quest Gaming account, the company tweeted on Saturday, "Sandbox is a user-generated game creator." Players can "explore, create, and play a variety of games with friends in VR".
WhatsApp rolls out disappearing messages shortcut on Android beta
After downloading the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.25.11 update, some users were able to access the new feature, reports WABetaInfo. The new shortcut is placed within the 'Manage Storage' section and is marked as a tool to save space. This shortcut will roll out to more users over the coming days.
WhatsApp to let users connect to 2 Android devices with same account
Currently, the feature is only available to WhatsApp's beta testers. According to Android Authority, the new feature will let users link their WhatsApp account from their smartphone to the platform's Android tablet app, which means there will be no need to create a separate WhatsApp account on the secondary Android device.

"Of the other 187 reports where specialised review was needed, we reviewed content as per our policies, and we took action on 120 reports in total," the social network said in its monthly compliance report under the IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. The remaining 67 reports were reviewed but may not have been actioned, said Meta.
WhatsApp launches 'forward media with caption' feature on iOS
After downloading the latest WhatsApp for iOS 22.23.77 update from the App Store, some users were able to access the new feature, reports WABetaInfo. Users have to forward an image with a caption in order to know if the ability is enabled to their account and a new view will display at the bottom of the screen.
WhatsApp working on mute shortcut for Desktop group chats
The mute shortcut will display at the top of group chats and will help users to disable notifications of messages received in the group, reports WABetaInfo. Earlier this month, Meta Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that 1,024 users can be added to a group, so the new feature will be very helpful for users who do not want to receive a lot of notifications from group chats.

In the second half of 2021, India had made 50,382 requests to Meta for user data. According to Meta, the accessAto 597 items was restricted for violating Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000, including content against security of the state and public order.
Meta denies Mark Zuckerberg is set to resign next year
The Leak portal first reported, citing its source privy to plans at Meta, that "Zuckerberg is set to resign next year". The report claimed that Zuckerberg has decided to step down himself and it will not "affect metaverse", his multi-billion dollar project. Andy Stone, Meta's Communications Director, refuted the report late on Tuesday, tweeting that "This is false".
