In a post, Musk took a survey querying if America needs a new political party. He asserted that 80 percent of those polled approved of the concept.

He stated, "The public has spoken. A new political party is needed in America to represent the 80 per cent in the middle! And precisely 80 per cent of people are in agreement. This is fate."

Soon after, a user posted an image suggesting the name "America Party."

Musk responded, "The name America Party sounds great. The party that truly represents America!"

He then posted a simple post stating: "The America Party."

Witnesses comment on the timing of Musk's tweets as especially notable, considering the mounting tensions between him and his previous political ally, US President Donald Trump. Previous close allies, their relationship has recently taken a steep decline.

Musk previously participated in President Trump's Cabinet meetings and attended the inauguration. He was made head of the DOGE department and even campaigned for Trump actively.

But their alliance appears to have disintegrated. Musk resigned from the DOGE department and went on to express criticism of Trump. In a landmark post, he remarked, "Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House, and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate… Such ingratitude."

Trump, on his part, has reacted with warnings of withdrawal of subsidies and government contracts handed out to Musk's businesses.

For the first time publicly addressing their breakup, President Trump informed journalists during an Oval Office meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, "Elon and I had a wonderful relationship. I don't know if we will anymore. I'm very disappointed in Elon. I've helped Elon a lot.
