According to CNN, the munitions -- which are mildly radioactive because they are made from dense metal, a byproduct from fuel production for nuclear power plants -- can be fired from the US-made Abrams tanks that are expected to arrive in Ukraine later this year.

Umerov's nomination, which was submitted by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, was supported by 338 lawmakers in the 450-seat Assembly, Zheleznyak added on Wednesday in a post on Telegram.

Oleh Kiper, Governor of the surrounding Odesa region, said the attack led to the damage of port and agricultural infrastructure, reports the BBC.

"It was an honor to serve the Ukrainian people and work for the Ukrainian army for the last 22 months, the toughest period of Ukraine's modern history," Reznikov said on the social media X, formerly known as Twitter.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement on Tuesday that the new package includes AIM-9M missiles for air defence, munitions for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, 155mm and 105mm artillery ammunition, and over 3 million rounds of small arms ammunition, Xinhua news agency reported.

Addressing a news conference on Monday, he said: "By the end of this month or at the beginning of September, there will be good news about powerful players arriving on Ukraine's arms market. Several agreements will be signed." 

Russia rejected the inclusion of geopolitical Para 13, on the basis that it does not conform to the G20 mandate.

"I believe that this is a big risk, we will definitely be left alone," CNN quoted the President as saying on Sunday in an interview to local media when he was asked if it was time for such a move.

“We are planning to donate Norwegian F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, and will provide further details about the donation, numbers and time frame for delivery in due course,” CNN quoted Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store as saying on Thursday. Norway had first announced its plans to support the training of Ukrainian personnel on F-16 fighter jets in May.

In a social media post, the Ministry said that nine of the drones were shot down and the remaining 33 were jammed by electronic warfare equipment and crashed without reaching their targets, CNN reported. “Overnight, an attempt by the Kyiv regime to carry out terrorist attacks using unmanned aerial vehicles on Russian Federation territory has been thwarted,” the post added.
