In a statement on Monday, the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) said that Metropolitan Ionafan, head of the Tulchin Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate in Vinnytsia region, was sentenced based on the evidence presented by the special services, Ukrainska Pravda reported. 

In a statement, the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) said the alleged informant "on the eve of the recent trip of the President of Ukraine to Mykolaiv region, was gathering intelligence about the planned visit" late last month, reports CNN.

The meeting, which excluded Russia, was chaired by Saudi Minister of State and National Security Adviser Musaad bin Mohammed Al-Aiban. It was attended by representatives from more than 40 countries and international organisations, including the US, India, the EU, China and the United Nations.

The Soviet emblem on the monument -- the tallest staue in Ukraine -- will be replaced by the trident by August 24, when the country celebrates Independence Day, Xinhua news agency quoted the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy as saying in a statement. Experts on Monday carrued out some preparatory work and constructed the metal sculpture of the trident, the Ministry said.

In a statement on Telegram, the Ministry said that an attempt by Ukraine "to carry out a terrorist attack by unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) on facilities in the Moscow region has been foiled, reports CNN. "The UAV was destroyed by means of air defence," the Ministry said, adding that there were no casualties or damage. 

“SBU officers have been destroying the enemy in the hottest spots and doing everything to liberate our land as soon as possible. The destruction of the Crimean bridge is one of our achievements," CNN quoted the Security Service's chief Vasyl Malyuk as saying at a ceremony here on Wednesday.

"It is unacceptable. The demand by some countries to extend the EU restriction after September 15 also goes against their own interests," Kuleba was quoted as saying by Xinhua news agency. Ukraine works closely with partners and neighbours to resolve the issue, the minister added.

"This is an act of solidarity not only with Ukraine but with the world, which relies on our grain," Denys Shmyhal tweeted. He described Poland's intention to continue blocking the export of Ukrainian grain to the EU as an "unfriendly and populist move", reports Xinhua news agency.

"Due to the termination of the Black Sea Initiative, and the curtailment of the maritime humanitarian corridor, all ships en route to Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea will be considered potential carriers of military cargo from 00:00 Moscow time on July 20, 2023," it added on Wednesday.
