Army chief, top military brass to review deployment along China, Pak borders

The military top brass will discuss the force preparedness at the Line of Actual Control with China and Line of Control with Pakistan. They will be there for three days and hold deliberations over various military issues amid changing geopolitical turmoil. India and China have been engaged in a border dispute for around almost two years and talks are on to resolve the matter.
China building Pangong bridge in area occupied since 1962: Govt tells Parliament

“The government has taken note of a bridge being constructed by China on Pangong Lake. This bridge is being constructed in areas that have continued to be under the illegal occupation of China since 1962. The Government of India has never accepted this illegal occupation,” Minister of state for external affairs V. Murleedharan said in the Lok Sabha. The govt also reiterated that India will never recognise and accept this illegal occupation.
Threats by no means reduced at borders with China: Army chief

Addressing Indian Army's annual conference, Naravane said, "We will continue to deal with the PLA (People's Liberation Army) in a firm, resolute and peaceful manner, while ensuring the sanctity of our claims. Necessary safeguards are in place." The army chief said that there have been positive developments, both along the country's Northern and Western borders in the last one year.
