India's first ever airborne drill in Ladakh in harsh weather conditions

Sources said Shatrujeet Brigade of the Indian Army conducted an airborne insertion along the Northern Borders in Eastern Ladakh to validate its rapid response capabilities, as part of an airborne exercise and combat manoeuvres. "Airborne troops were inserted to a Drop Zone at an altitude of more than 14 000 feet," a government source said.
Warning of risks of a new conflict, China says India making 'unreasonable, unrealistic demands'

China and India held the 13th round of corps commander-level talks at the Chinese side of the Moldo-Chushul border meeting point on Sunday, "during which India insisted on unreasonable and unrealistic demands, adding difficulties to the negotiations", the PLA Western Theater Command said in a statement released on Monday.

Both the countries discussed Phase 3 of disengagement and also overall de-escalation along Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh. Deliberations took place over remaining friction areas - the Hot Springs and 900 square km Depsang plains. The talks happened months after both the countries withdrew troops from friction Patrolling Point (PP) 17 in Gogra.

The Union cabinet decision to establish a central university as a centre of learning and research, will also address the intellectual imbalance of the region. Union minister Anurag Thakur made the announcement in Delhi that the central university would be established at a cost of Rs 7,500 crore in Ladakh and the news was received with delight in Leh.
