Confirmed: Kerala youth's death first monkeypox casuality in India

22 year old Hafeez passed away on Sunday and after that suspicions were there if it was monkeypox. Soon the health authorities swung into action and started preparing a detailed contact list of him after his arrival at the Kozhikode airport.
Third monkeypox case registered in Kerala

The youth has been isolated and admitted to the state-run medical college hospital at Manjeri in the district. This is the third case in the state - and the country, with the first case registered on July 14 when a youth, who also arrived from the UAE, in Kollam turning positive, and a few days later, another male who came from Dubai tested positive at Kannur.

A 31-year-old man, who had arrived from Dubai and was under treatment at the Pariyaram Medical College hospital at Kannur, has turned positive for the disease, she said. George said that the patient's condition is fine and he is under close medical observation. All those who came in close contact with him has been isolated.

The results has come from the the laboratory of NIV, Pune, she said, adding that strict containment protocols have been followed and there is no need of concern. The patient, who arrived from the UAE on July 12, was at his house in Kollam. When he developed the symptoms he was taken to a hospital at Kollam and from there he was shifted to the Trivandrum Medical College hospital where he is under close observation.
