J&K DDC Election Results: Farooq Abdullah-led PAGD takes lead over BJP

According to the latest leads reported for 231 out of 280 segments that went to the polls across J&K, the PAGD is leading on 96 seats while the BJP is ahead on 56 constituencies. The overall voting percentage in all the eight phases across the Union Territory was 51.42 per cent and over 30 lakh votes have been counted at the counting centres across J&K.
Jammu and Kashmir: Arrested PDP leader Waheed Para wins seat in DDC polls

Para was arrested by the NIA on November 25 in connection with the case of ex-Deputy Superintendent of J&K Police Davinder Singh who was earlier arrested for supporting Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists. Singh and Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Naveed Babu were arrested while travelling from Srinagar to Jammu in January this year.
BJP, Gupkar group neck and neck in J&K DDC polls

According to initial trends it is a neck to neck contest between the BJP and the People's Alliance for Gupkar deceleration (PAGD). The leads in 119 constituencies indicate that the BJP candidates are ahead on 39 while the PAGD is leading in 38 constituencies. Jammu and Kashmir: Pakistan violates ceasefire in Poonch district

Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and shelling with mortars along the LoC in Balakote sector of Poonch district. The spokesman said Indian army retaliated befittingly. Monday's ceasefire violation by Pakistan was the third consecutive violation in the last three days along the LoC in J&K.
Jammu and Kashmir: Work on in full swing for India's first arch rail bridge

According to Northern Railway officials, the work on the Anji Bridge, which is coming up on the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) section of Northern Railway in Jammu and Kashmir is in full swing. The bridge is being built on the Katra-Banihal railway line at village Kauri in the Reasi district.
'Chillai Kalan' begins in Kashmir & Ladakh

Over this one month's time, night temperatures were expected to drop several notches below the freezing point while the maximum temperatures hover around 6-7 degrees Celsius in J&K and Ladakh. Many water bodies, including the Dal Lake, the Wullar Lake and others have frozen in parts, due to the extreme cold in the valley.
67.60% and 47.56% polling for panch and sarpanch seats in J&K

The SEC said that bypolls for 285 vacant seats of panches were held in the 8th and final phase on Saturday. Of the 53,817 electors, 36,378 voted to decide the fate of 596 candidates in the fray. The SEC said that polling was peaceful at all polling stations across the state.Jammu division recorded 84.07 per cent voting and Kashmir division 65.92 per cent voting for panch by-elections on Saturday.
ED attaches 6 properties of former J&K CM Farooq Abdullah worth Rs 11.86 cr

Among the attached properties are residences at Gupkar Road Srinagar, Tehsil Katipora, Tanmarg and Bhatindi Village, Sunjwan Jammu, an ED official said. The ED has questioned Abdullah twice in connection with a case of alleged misappropriation of funds when he was the chairman of the J&K Cricket Association.

J&K DDC Elections: Last-phase polling in 28 constituencies on December 19

State Election Commissioner (SEC) KK Sharma told the media on Friday that 13 constituencies in Kashmir division and 15 in Jammu division will witness polling, wherein 168 candidates are in the fray. The SEC said that in the 13 Kashmir constituencies, 83 candidates are in the poll fray, including 31 women. A total of 85 candidates, including 15 women, are contesting 15 Jammu division seats.
