Army launches search operation along LoC in Uri

"On the intervening night of 18/19 Sep 2021, suspicious movement was detected along the LoC in Uri Sector. Search of the area is under progress," an army official said. There has been a spurt in attempts of infiltration at the LoC. A Pakistani national was among the two terrorists killed at the LoC in Poonch after an infiltration bid was foiled by the army on August 30.
Kolkata safest city among metros: NCRB report

According to the latest report published by the NCRB, Delhi recorded the highest cognizable offences with a crime rate of 1,506.9 per one lakh population followed by Chennai that recorded a rate of 1,016.4. When the other two metropolitan cities like Mumbai and Bengaluru recorded a rate of 272.4 and 234.9, Kolkata has a crime rate of 109.9 in cognizable offences. Not only among the metros but the city recorded the lowest crime rate among the 19 major cities of the country.
Militants flee leaving behind weapons after Srinagar gunfight

Police sources said firing exchanges started between holed up militants and the security forces in Noorbagh area of Srinagar district after the security forces closed in on some hiding militants. "After initial firing exchanges, the militants seem to have escaped from the encounter site. They left behind a pistol and an AK-47 rifle," sources said.
IAF to conduct air show over Dal Lake on Sept 26

Defence ministry spokesman Colonel Enron Musavi said the air show would be part of the ongoing celebrations commemorating 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav'. "Air Force Station, Srinagar, will conduct an air show at Dal Lake in Srinagar on September 26. The event being organised in collaboration with the J&K government will be flagged off by Manoj Sinha, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir.
BSF tightens security along IB after spike in infiltration attempts from PoK

The outfits have been getting adequate support from Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI, which has been providing them all logistics and weapons support, the sources said. According to the sources, over 100 attempts of infiltration were made in the last 100 days, though most of them were thwarted by the BSF and other security forces.
Policeman killed in militant attack in J&K's Kulgam

Police sources said militants fired at constable Bantu Sharma in Wanpoh area of Kulgam district in the afternoon. "He was shifted to hospital for treatment, but he succumbed to critical injuries," a source said that the area has been cordoned off for searches and senior police and other security officers have reached the spot.
Offences against states down by 26% in 2020: NCRB data

According to the data, Uttar Pradesh recorded 2,217 cases during the last year while the numbers were 2107 in 2019, followed by Tamil Nadu (668) and Assam (333). Jammu and Kashmir reported 317 offenses against the state which was 284 in 2019. A total of 66 cases of sedition under Section 124A of the IPC were reported in 2020.

On Sunday's being the third militant attack in Srinagar city despite police claims that many modules of militants have been eliminated, he said: "Many modules have been eliminated. New ones take their place."
