Trailing by an early goal, Jamshedpur returned with a vengeance to hold a vice-like grip over the proceedings thereafter and always held the upper hand despite spirited efforts by the Goa side. The Juggernauts who were eliminated after defeat to ATK Mohun Bagan had finished in sixth position in the standings and reached the playoffs for the first time in their history. However, the Spaniard who was in his second spell in charge of the club will leave with immediate effect.

Hyderabad FC launched a series of attacks around the ten-minute-mark and Joel Chianese was the first to try his luck from a tight angle. Vishal Kaith was alert at the near post to deny the attacker. As they have all season, the Islanders were once again the team that dominated possession and created more scoring chances than their opponents.

Sunil Chhetri scored the only goal of the match in the seventh minute of extra time to add a ninth consecutive win for his team, which confirmed a semi-final berth for them. The Blasters dominated possession in the first half but couldn't get past Gurpreet Singh Sandhu in the Bengaluru FC goal.
