The Indian Air Force's latest technical evaluation shows that in Operation Sindoor, which took place between May 7 and May 10, Pakistan had lost six combat aircraft, a number of cruise missiles, and more than 10 combat drones.
This comes after Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan recently announced that India would release information about Pakistan's casualties.
lthough there has not been any official government release yet, various media sources have reported the way Indian troops shot down Pakistani fighter planes.
India's highly synchronized military operation, involving surface-to-air and cruise missile attacks at the peak of hostilities, pinpointed and annihilated strategic military installations deep within Pakistan, ANI, a news agency, reported. The report also authenticated the destruction of over 10 Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles (UCAVs) in the air strikes.
Aside from the fighter jets, Indian air power also destroyed a C-130 transport aircraft as well as a major air asset. ANI quoted defence sources as saying that the Indian Sudarshan air defence system, with a range of around 300 km, totally destroyed a high-value target—either an Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft or an electronic countermeasures platform. The strike has been said to have neutralized a Swedish-origin AEW&C plane based at Pakistan's Bholari airbase.
The defence sources also disclosed that the Indian Air Force used air-launched cruise missiles to strike Pakistani airbases, and that surface-to-surface BrahMos missiles were not used in the attacks.
Moreover, during a flight operation on Su-30 and Rafale fighter jets, Indian forces shot down a large number of Wing Loong series drones made by China, which are medium-altitude, long-endurance unmanned aerial vehicles.
