Hyderabad took the lead through goals from Aridane Santana in the third minute and Joel Chianese in the 36th before a penalty from Federico Gallego in the 45th minute and and Benjamin Lambot's strike two minutes later helped NorthEast end the first half on level terms. Bengaluru captain Sunil Chhetri gave the 2018/19 champions hope by converting a penalty in the 79th minute but a blooper from goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu allowed Ogbeche to score Mumbai's third in 84th minute and put the game beyond Bengaluru's reach.

The last league game of this season will be between Mumbai City FC and ATK Mohun Bagan. Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) further said that schedule and venue for the playoffs and final will be "announced at a later date".

On Monday, Bengaluru coach Carles Cuadrat made two changes from their previous game. Suresh Singh Wangjam and Kristian Opseth returned to the Bengaluru starting XI in place of Udanta Singh and Deshorn Brown while Jamshedpur coach Owen Coyle made just one change as Mobashir Rahman replaced Isaac Vanmalsawma.

FSDL said that on Friday it organised an 'Open Communication Forum' between head coaches of the teams, officials of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), and its referees department "to discuss a number of aspects related to developing the officiating of the games and communication between coaches and match officials".
