ISL 2021-22: Hyderabad FC qualify for semifinals with 2-1 win over Kerala Blasters FC

Bartholomew Ogbeche got Hyderabad in front in the 28th minute with Javier Siverio doubling the margin in the 87th minute to make it 35 points from 18 games and stay firmly in pole position. Kerala fought hard with Alvaro Vazquez at the heart of their second-half stellar show but in the end, Hyderabad held firm with the defence and Laxmikant Kattimani doing the job for Manolo Marquez's side.

A few minutes before the half-hour mark, Thongkhosiem Haokip found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

The result keeps the Blues in the hunt for a semi-finals spot as they rise to fifth with 26 points, one behind fourth-placed Kerala Blasters FC. On the other hand, a third winless outing causes O'C's semi-finals ambitions to suffer a huge blow. Nandhakumar Sekar (8') pounced on a loose ball to score early in the game but Danish Farooq's (31') header levelled the score. Cleiton Silva (49') scored from the penalty spot in the second half, which eventually separated the two teams.

Ritwik Das (23rd), Boris Singh (33rd) and Daniel Chima Chukwu (40th) got on the scoresheet before Deepak Devrani scored an own goal (46th) as Jamshedpur made it three wins in a row to rack up 31 points from 16 matches. They are one point behind league leaders Hyderabad FC with a game in hand.

Hyderabad began and ended the day as ISL leaders but for a brief two-hour period ATK Mohun Bagan had replaced them at the top. The Kolkata-based club had reached the top with a draw against Kerala Blasters earlier in the day. A brace from Bartholomew Ogbeche and a goal from Joao Victor helped HFC beat Goa and overtake ATKMB. As for Derrick Per'ira's men, it was a second successive defeat that keeps them in the ninth position.

Greg Stewart (9th) opened the floodgates early on to give Jamshedpur the lead with Ritwik Das (30th) doubling the margin. In the second half, Rahul Bheke (57th) pulled one back for Mumbai before Igor Angulo missed a penalty but that didn't matter as Diego Mauricio converted from the spot in the 86th minute to leave the game on a knife's edge. Stewart then converted a penalty in added time to seal the issue.

The result means Hyderabad now have 29 points from 16 games, four more than second-placed Jamshedpur FC who have played two matches less. Bengaluru remained third with 23 in their kitty from 16 outings.

Jamshedpur now have 25 points from 14 matches, a game less than table-toppers Hyderabad FC who have 26 points from 15 outings. Kerala dropped to fifth after the loss with 23 points from 14 games.
