The Indian team's victory was powered by a brace from Harmanpreet Singh (15’, 23’) while Jugraj Singh (36’) and Akashdeep Singh (55’) also scored crucial goals to put the seal on the win.

With a chance to earn a direct qualification to next year's Paris Olympic Games, the Indian men's hockey team will open its campaign against Uzbekistan on September 24.

The Indian team defeated defending champions Korea in a thrilling encounter which could have seen India winning by a bigger margin if the Indians had made better use of their opportunities including a penalty stroke. Nilakanta Sharma (6'), Harmanpreet Singh (23') and Mandeep Singh (33') scored in India's win while Kim Sunghhyun (12') and Jihun Yang struck for Korea. The victory put India on the top of the pool table.

It was a memorable outing for Harmanpreet Singh who achieved a personal milestone of scoring their 150th international goal with a 42nd-minute PC while Karthi Selvam (15'), Hardik Singh (32'), Gurjant Singh (53') and Jugraj Singh (54') contributed in India's win.  Coming into this game with two wins in a row, a 3-1 win against Pakistan and a 5-1 victory over China, Malaysia looked to remain ahead of India in the points table.

Harmanpreet Singh (43') was the lone goal scorer for India while Ken Nagayoshi (28') gave Japan a fine start. Riding on their splendid 7-2 victory against China in the campaign opener, India looked for yet another victory but a determined Japan played with great tenacity to keep the hosts in check.

It was raining goals for India as Harmanpreet Singh (5', 8'), Varun Kumar (19', 30'), Sukhjeet Singh (15'), Akashdeep Singh (16') entered their name on the scoreboard while charismatic forward Mandeep Singh (40') achieved a personal milestone as he scored his 100th international goal.

Vandana Katariya (22'), Monika (48'), and Udita (58') scored as the team remained undefeated in the tournament. India had drawn 1-1 with England and 2-2 with Spain in their previous matches. Table toppers India got off to a strong start as they worked a disciplined structure with short, accurate passes that allowed them to create space in the circle. But an Indian goal remained elusive in the first quarter.

After losing to the hosts and drawing with the Netherlands in their previous matches, the India team was looking for an elusive win and a spot in the tournament's final. However, the draw against England means India are now out of contention for the final of the four-nation hockey tournament.

India will play against England, Spain, and hosts Germany in the tournament, which will be part of the team’s preparations for the all-important FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2023 to be played in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from December 5-16 this year.

India started the match on an aggressive note with high pressing in the first quarter but were unable to take the lead. Meanwhile, hosts Spain began to gain momentum as the first quarter progressed, and it paid off as Pau Cunill (11') found the back of the net to put the hosts ahead in the 11th minute.
