BSF, Pak Rangers exchange sweets at IB in Jammu

BSF Jammu offered sweets to the Pakistan Rangers and the latter also reciprocated. The exchange of sweets was done all along the BoPs in Samba, Kathua, RS Pura and Akhnoor border. BSF said, "BSF has always been on the forefront in creating a peaceful and congenial atmosphere on Border while dominating the border effectively. Such gestures help build a peacefulA atmosphere and cordial relationships on border between both border guarding forces."
Six killed in J&K suicide attack; injured soldier succumbs

With the death of the injured soldier, the toll in Thursday's foiled 'Fidayeen' (Suicide) attack in Rajouri district has reached six. Two terrorists and 3 army soldiers were killed earlier when a suicide attack by the heavily armed terrorists was foiled in Rajouri district. A Defence statement said on Tuesday evening: "Rifleman Nishant Malik who was injured while bravely fighting and eliminating 2 terrorists in Pargal, Rajouri has succumbed to injuries. Indian Army condoles the loss of braveheart and stands in solidarity with his family," it added.
Indian Army Chief to visit Nepal in early September to boost defence ties

This will be the first visit of an Indian Army chief to neighbouring Nepal since his appointment to the post on April 30 this year. "We have received communication from the Indian side that General Pandey will be here from September 5 to 7," a senior official at Nepal's foreign ministry, told India Narrative on Sunday, requesting anonymity. He added that the government and army are currently making preparations for the visit.
Indigenously made laser-guided anti-tank missiles successfully tested

The missiles hit with precision and successfully destroyed the targets at two different ranges, officials said, adding the telemetry systems have recorded the satisfactory flight performance of the missiles. The all-indigenous laser-guided ATGM employs a tandem High Explosive Anti-Tank warhead to defeat Explosive Reactive Armour protected armoured vehicles.
Army intensifies modernisation drive with focus on surveillance, night fighting

The Indian Army, in its modernisation drive, is focusing on long-range weapons, night fighting capabilities, multi-capacity drones, and early detection and targeting systems. As per the latest figures, as many as 93 modernisation projects of the Army are at various stages with procurement worth Rs 1.37 lakh crore ($18.4 billion) under progress. Further with the emphasis on indigenisation, 19 out of 22 new procurements in the current financial year are made from indigenous suppliers.
Defence Ministry clears arms procurement worth Rs 28,732cr for Army

The proposals were cleared on Tuesday by the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) headed by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. These proposals will enhance the overall combat prowess of the armed forces along the northern and western borders. "The Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for capital acquisition proposals of the armed forces amounting to Rs 28,732 crore were accorded by the DAC," the Defence Ministry said in a statement.
India denies reports about sending military to Sri Lanka

Indian High Commission in Colombo, clarifying the country stand over the issue, said that India stands with the people of Sri Lanka. "The High Commission would like to categorically deny speculative reports in sections of media and social media about India sending her troops to Sri Lanka. These reports and such views are also not in keeping with the position of the Government of India" it tweeted.
Centre announces 10% reservation for 'Agniveers' in CAPFs, Assam Rifles

The announcement was made by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) earlier in the day on Twitter. The MHA added that it has also decided to "give three years age relaxation beyond the prescribed upper age limit to Agniveers for recruitment in CAPFs and Assam Rifles". "Further, for the first batch of Agniveer, the age relaxation will be for 5 years beyond the prescribed upper age limit," it said in a tweet.
