 The government has appointed retired Vice Admiral G. Ashok Kumar as a National Maritime Security Coordinator (NMSC) within the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) under NSA Ajit Doval for creating common purpose among the many ministries, government departments and private players, with a say in matters of maritime security, sources said.
Northern Army commander reviews security scenario in Kashmir

Northern Army commander, Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, who is on a three day visit to Kashmir Valley from March 10, visited Rashtriya Rifles formations in hinterland to review the overall security scenario, the army said on Friday. Defence Ministry identifies 18 platforms for industry-led development

India's Defence Ministry on Friday identified 18 major platforms, including drones, for industry-led design and development. Under the Defence Acquisition Procedure 2020, 'Make' Category aims to achieve self-reliance by involving greater participation of Indian industry. Projects involving design and development of equipment, systems, major platforms or upgrades thereof by the industry can be taken up under this category.

The Security Council held its seventh meeting in two weeks related to the unfolding situation.
5 BSF personnel dead in fratricidal firing close to Indo-Pak border

The shooter, identified as constable Satteppa SK, was among those who died in the incident. Officials said the incident was reported at the barracks of the 114 Battalion in Khasa, some 20 km from the Attari-Wagah border. Sateppa, hailing from Karnataka, allegedly fired at five of his colleagues before shooting himself.

Seven soldiers trapped in Arunanchal avalanche found dead: Army

"Bodies of all seven individuals have been recovered from the avalanche site. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of everyone involved, all seven have been confirmed deceased," it said. The seven army personnel, part of a patrol, were struck by an avalanche in the high altitude area of Kameng Sector in Arunachal Pradesh on February 6.
