The three units which received citation are -- 2255 Squadron Det Air Force, 47 Squadron and 116 Helicopter Unit. The 47 Squadron was formed on December 18, 1959 and is presently equipped with the MiG-29 Upgrade aircraft. After the pre-emptive strikes by the IAF on February 26, 2019, the Squadron was deployed for the Air Defence role.

42 squadron strength not possible in next 10-15 years: IAF Chief VR Chaudhari

Speaking to media persons ahead of the Air Force Day which is scheduled on October 8, Chaudhari said that the strength will continue to be 35 squadrons in the next decade. When asked about the S-400 missile system, Chaudhari said that the first SAM system will be inducted within this year but it will be no substitute to the fighter jets.
Increased Chinese air force presence at LAC not of 'much concern': IAF chief

Addressing the annual press conference ahead of Air Force Day (October 8), Air Chief Marshal Chaudhari said that the Chinese PLAAF has increased its presence at three airfields across the Line of Actual Control. "China is developing airfields with multiple aircraft but flying from high altitude is a weak area," he said.

IAF to get 56 Airbus planes worth Rs 21,000 crore

Out of the 56, Airbus will deliver 16 aircraft in flyway conditions within four years, whereas, the remaining 40 will be produced in India by a joint partnership between Tata Group and Airbus Spain. This is the first project of its kind in which a military aircraft will be manufactured in India under technology transfer by a private company and is expected to cost close to $3bn.
Air Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari to be next IAF chief

Commissioned into the IAF's fighter stream on December 29, 1982, Air Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari has held various command, staff, and instructional appointments at various levels. "Government has decided to appoint Air Marshal V.R. Chaudhari, PVSM, AVSM, VM, presently Vice Chief of Air Staff, as the next Chief of Air Staff," a Defence Ministry statement said.
