IAF begins registration process under Agnipath recruitment scheme

The registration process which began on Friday (June 24) will continue till July 5. The online examination will be held on July 24. The candidates will be selected on the basis of online test, physical fitness test (PFT), adaptability test-I, adaptability test-II and medical examination. The age group must be between 17.5 years to 21 years. "Candidates born between 29 December 1999 and 29 June 2005 (both days inclusive) are eligible to apply.

The process for the recruitment will begin from June 24. The IAF document lists the eligibility, educational qualification, medical standards, assessment, leave, remuneration, life insurance cover, etc., among many other factors. As the recruitment process is also open to those below 18 years, the enrolment form will need to be signed by the parents for those aspirants who are below 18 years of age, the IAF notification said.

India successfully flight-tests anti-tank guided missile Helina

The flight-test was jointly conducted by team of scientists of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the Indian Army, and the Indian Air Force, as part of the user validation trials. The flight trials were conducted from an Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) and the missile was fired successfully engaging simulated tank target.

The defence officials informed that the extended range missile hit the target accurately. “India today successfully test fired surface to surface BrahMos supersonic cruise missile in Andaman & Nicobar. Extended range missiles hit its target with pinpoint accuracy,” ANI quoted the defence officials as saying. Air chief Marshal VR Chaudhari congratulated on the successful test-firing of Brahmos, the defence officials further said.
Parliamentary committee calls for time-bound procurement of new fighter jets for IAF in view of depleting squadron strength

They have called for fresh and time-bound procurement of new fighter aircrafts, in a report which was tabled in the Parliament on Wednesday. “During evidence, the representatives of the Air Force submitted that the present authorized strength of the squadron is 42. It was further stated that the total technical life of most of the existing squadron is expiring and consequently, the squadron strength is progressively depleting,” the report said.

India developing air-borne version of BrahMos which can strike at over 800 km: Reports

“The range of the BrahMos missile has been increased already and with the advantage of being airborne at high altitudes, the missile can travel a longer distance and can hit targets at 800 kms and beyond,” ANI quoted its sources as saying. Currently, Brahmos-A, which is a remodified air-borne version of the supersonic missile, has a range of 500km and can be launched from the India Air Force’s Sukhoi Su-30MKI.
IAF evacuates 210 more Indians who had fled from war-torn Ukraine

The Indian Air Force has evacuated 210 more Indian nationals who were stranded in the crisis-hit Ukraine. Eleven more special flights are expected to operate on Sunday from Budapest, Kosice, Rzeszow and Bucharest, to bring in more than 2,200 Indians back home. The Ministry of Civil Aviation had earlier informed that under 'Operation Ganga', about 3,000 Indians were airlifted on Saturday by 15 special flights from Ukraine's neighboring countries.
IAF avoids Pak airspace to bring nationals from countries bordering Ukraine

Under 'Operation Ganga', the Indian Air Force has avoided the Pakistan airspace to bring back stranded Indian nationals from countries bordering Ukraine as the war entered eighth day. The Indian Air Force till Thursday brought 798 citizens from Hungary, Poland and Romania. The force had sent four C-17 transport aircraft on Wednesday to bring back the Indian nationals who had crossed the Ukraine border.
